Think Fit, Get Fit |
Tired of Being Sick and Tired?
Had I
started this newsletter last Monday, it would have been titled, "Negative
Thinking, Negative Habits, Negative Change" because a stomach virus started
wreaking havoc within my body early last Monday morning and was quite
successful in preventing me from having those positive thoughts that keep me
going every day and making me far less than productive than usual. No, I didn't
develop any negative habits and there wasn't any negative change, but I
certainly didn't make any progress. My life is
actually like a "sole
proprietorship" and when I don't "produce" then I get pretty anxious.
Having older parents (my Mom actually had her tubes tied and then had me - so I
was really a late in a Mom's life "mistake") that have both passed away and
being an only child, I have virtually no extended family to fall back on for
some supportive words. All of my drive has to come from within and being sick
has a tendency to produce negative thoughts and makes everything seem
overwhelming. Viruses come and go, but what if
you are sick and tired all the time? How do you generate those positive
thoughts and positive habits that become a driving force in your life? Since I
theme the articles for the "Free Class" on my
blog, this is probably a good week to address those of you who are sick, tired
or sick and tired and give you some good articles to read to get your mind
going on a positive path again and to help make your life seem less
overwhelming. For those of you avid readers
who make it past the featured articles and new articles to the "On The
Homefront" section, you will find a Polar Update which you will find
interesting to say the least. There is also an idea for those of you who are
personal trainers or thinking of becoming
one. Finally, even if you think that you don't
have time, scroll to the bottom of the page and read A Mayonnaise Jar and
Two Cups of Coffee. It will make your life a little easier
today!

Tips For
Staying Healthy - The best thing you can do to stay healthy is to keep
your body happy by reducing stress. When you're operating in a weakened state,
it's a lot easier for those little bugs to invade. So first and foremost, avoid
stress. Take time to cool off. While there's no escaping many of life's more
unnerving situations, some can be avoided. Do so.

Too Young To Be So Tired -
America is an overworked and under-slept nation, and parents are among the most
sleep-deprived segment of the population. We Americans spend more hours working
than residents of any industrialized nation. In order to keep up with the
demands of work, of keeping the house going, spending time with the kids and
taking a moment for ourselves, we steal time from sleep.Continued... |

Recognizing and
Dealing With Fatigue - Fatigue is a very common complaint and affects
athletes of all ages, sizes and abilities. It is one of the most common
complaints in the physician's office, with one in every four patients stating
that fatigue is disrupting his or her life. Fatigue is a subjective condition
in which a person feels tired before beginning an activity, lacks the energy to
accomplish tasks requiring sustained effort and attention, and becomes unduly
exhausted after normal activities.Continued... |

Vitamin D - The Sunshine
Vitamin - Have you noticed that vitamin D is getting a lot of attention
lately? According to recent reports it may help protect us from certain kinds
of cancers (such as breast cancer and prostate cancer). It can also help us to
build and maintain strong bones and muscles plus provide a lot of other health
benefits. Continued... |

Should You Exercise
When You're Sick? - Whether or not to work out when you're sick is an
age-old dilemma. Since it makes you stronger and healthier, we tend to think
that it will help. And since no one wants to see their hard-earned fitness
gains waste away, we want to keep up with our program. But when you consider
what happens to your body, physiologically, during an illness and during
exercise, you may see how this seemingly rational train of thought could lead
you astray. Continued... |

Business Bureau AAA Rating - I should have done this a long time ago. I
have seen BBB Ratings on other sites and it gave me a sense of confidence. Now
Internet shoppers can click on my BBB seal and know that I run an honest

| Polar Update - If
you have been following the Polar debacle, it has taken another twist. They
took me off of the list of Authorized Internet Dealers, but it gets worse. If
you are a lawyer, you might be interested in this one. I got a letter from
Polar saying that due to a software "glitch", between October 1, 2006 and July
3, 2007 they "inadvertently charged shipping on product line items and not
quantity of product shipped", and that they want me to pay them $991.18. Anyone
want to give me an opinion or advice? |

Win Win Idea for Personal Trainers - Carl Daikeler and Neil Anderson, a
trainer and radio host of The Health and Fitness Zone in Salt Lake City, came
up with the concept of how trainers can actually expand their business and
better serve their clients by becoming MDB coaches. First the premise: personal
trainers deliver a valuable service helping people learn about fitness and
learn good form. But part of their job is to get people on a personal program
that they can execute on their own, without the trainers help counting
reps. And for anyone who is a trainer, you know how fixed the income potential
is - youre locked into the hours you work. Lets say you can
effectively serve 5 clients a day, 6 days a week. Thats a total of 30
client hours a week, and you ONLY get paid if there is no cancellation.
Heres the problem the only way to expand is either work longer
hours, or increase your rate.

A Mayonnaise Jar
and Two Cups of Coffee
| When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when
24 hours in a day are not enough, remember this story about a mayonnaise jar
and 2 cups of coffee... A professor stood before his philosophy class and had
some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a
very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
